These compounds react under mild conditions with different functional groups analogous to those present in proteins. The ease with which the same nucleophile adds to the triple bond and substitutes the chlorine was compared, and the stability of the addition products was checked. The modification of amino groups by addition across the triple bond can be reversed in acidic medium.
