- W2014383310 abstract "An interview survey among 123 general practitioners in one London borough revealed that few of the practitioners have regular or frequent contact with any social agency, and that a majority do not feel the need for such contact. Local voluntary bodies were not being used as an important alternative to the statutory social agencies. 14% of the interviewed doctors expressed definite interest in the possibility of a social-worker attachment, while a further 27% welcomed the idea of regular meetings and case-discussion with a social worker. Favourable attitudes to medicosocial teamwork were associated with an interest in psychiatric problems; they also tended to be found among the younger practitioners, those in group practices, those working in predominantly working-class areas, and those with attached health visitors. Consideration of the practice arrangements suggested that formal social-worker attachments would be feasible at present in only a few of the larger group practices, while in addition about a quarter of the interviewed doctors could undertake regular surgery meetings with a social worker." @default.
