- W2014519762 abstract "This article explores one of the most important technical achievements in the history of Palestine: the establishment of a water system centered in the Artas Valley. It was exceptionally important not only because it provided water to Jerusalem, but this system also continued working for over 2,000 years, expanding to over 40 km in its final stage of use. Its existence changed the cultural landscape of the region, including the development of settlements on both sides of the canals and increased agriculture due to the availability of water for irrigation. Through an analysis of primary and secondary sources, a clear picture is formed of how this resource was crucial to the development of the Artas Valley during the late Ottoman and British Mandate periods." @default.
