- W2014521118 abstract "The Composite Hardbody and Missile Plume (CHAMP) program is a computer simulation used to provide time dependent high- fidelity infrared (IR) simulations of airborne vehicles. CHAMP computational algorithms are based on first principle physics that compute hardbody and exhaust plume radiation (absorption, emission, and reflection) for arbitrary vehicle operational state, position, orientation and atmospheric condition. All computations are performed as a function of time to allow complex vehicle dynamics to be simulated. Image processing functions are included to generate anti-aliased focal plane imagery. CHAMP can be utilized to simulate post-boost vehicle, re-entry vehicle, boost missile, theater missile, cruise missile, aircraft, and helicopter applications. CHAMP development is sponsored by the Kinetic Kill Vehicle Hardware- In-the-Loop Simulator (KHILS) facility at Eglin AFB, Florida. CHAMP is routinely utilized by KHILS to support on-going hardware-in-the-loop testing of IR seekers. Many of these tests are complex and diversified. CHAMP has been structured to support these tests by employing current generation object oriented design methodologies that facilitate adaptation to specific test requirements." @default.
