• W2014691163 abstract "The electrical conductivity of three and Four component fluoride glasses based on ZrF 4 - BaF 2 and AlF 3 -BaF 2 systems were measured. The DC conductivity was measured in the low temperature range and the AC conductivity in the high temperature range, using three-electrode method, under various atmospheres; in air. Nz and vacuum. The electrodes were formed by evaporation of gold. The temperature dependences of the electrical conductivity were expressed by- Rasch-Hinrichsen law; σ = σ σ exp (-F./RT). The activation energies for conduction above glass transition temperature were found to be much higher than those below glass transition temperature. It was found that the atomosphere surrounding the specimens does not affect the conductivity. Comparing the conductivities of different type of glasses, such as those based on ZrF 4 -BaF 2 . AlF 3 -BaF 2 and BeF 2 -CsF systems, it was found that the conductivities vary extraordinarily with the type of glasses although the number of F − anion and the mean interanionic distances are same for all glasses. According to these results, it was deduced that the electrical current in the fluoride glasses was carried by non-bridging F − anions." @default.
