- W2014725311 abstract "Over the past few years, there has been a growing realization that spatial symmetry concepts play a key role in understanding the three-dimensional aspects of a wide range of protein-nucleic acid interactions. This review attempts to assess current data and concepts along these l ines, beginning with X-ray crystallographic evidence indicating the utilization of symmetry in the interaction of drugs, antibiotics. and other small symmetric ligands with DNA and ending with current views on the possible utilization of symmetry in chromatin structure. No attempt is made to review the extensive literature describing the detailed chemistry and physical chemistry of protein-nucleic acid interactions. For recent reviews on these topics, the reader should consult Burgess (I), Boyer (2), von Hippel & McGhee (3), Soli & Schimmel (4), and Kisselev & Favorova (5)." @default.
