- W2014735674 abstract "Abstract The magnetic susceptibility has been measured by the Faraday method on the alloys Zr(Cr1−xNix)2 and their hydrides over the temperature range 4.2–300 K and in applied fields up to 1.5 T. All the systems investigated were found to exhibit paramagnetism. The Pauli paramagnetism of ZrCr2 is enhanced by the substitution of chromium by nickel or by hydrogenation. In the ternary region, besides the Pauli paramagnetism a contribution to the total susceptibility associated either with the presence of a ferromagnetic phase or with a Curie-Weiss type of paramagnetism was observed. The ferromagnetic contribution at low nickel concentrations is attributed to solute nickel atoms in the ZrCr2 matrix, while the Curie-Weiss behaviour at higher nickel concentrations is associated with the antiferromagnetically coupled magnetic moments in the nickel sublattice. Hydrogen absorption acts in favour of these effects. The magnetic behaviour of the systems Zr(Cr1−xNix)2-Hy is compared with the related systems Zr(Cr1−xFex)2-Hy and Zr(Cr1−xCox) 2-Hy and briefly discussed." @default.
