- W2014754209 abstract "Abstract Autografts of guinea pig urinary bladder mucosa induced the formation of bone at the graft site. This bone persisted with the survival of the graft. Homografts of guinea pig urinary bladder mucosa were all rejected by day 31 postgrafting. With this rejection the previously formed bone was reabsorbed. These findings suggest that the bladder mucosa is not only essential for the original bone formation but also for its continued survival. The type of bone induction associated with urinary bladder grafts in guinea pigs varied with the type of graft. In many of the animals with pedicle grafts endochondral bone formation occurred, whereas in association with both autologous and homografts there was only membranous bone formation. Speculation has been made relevant to the blood supply as a factor to explain this difference." @default.
