- W2014879651 abstract "Experimental methods are detailed for the preparation of samples of thermally unstable, air-sensitive iron-porphyrin complexes for Mössbauer spectroscopy. Results obtained for the μ-peroxo iron(III) dimer (TPP)Fe-OO-Fe(TPP) in frozen toleune solution corroborate the structure assigned to it from NMR methods. The recently proposed S=1 iron(IV) complex, FE(O)(TPP)(1-MeIm), has also been studied by the Mössbauer effect in frozen toluene solution and the solid state. The low isomer shift (0.11 mm/s at 4.2 K) and its magnetic features strongly support the integral spin iron(IV) assignment. Moreover, there is a close similarity of the spectra of Fe(O)(TPP)(L) (L=1-methylimidazole, pryridine) with those of compound ES of cytochrome c peroxidase. This congruence supports the ‘ferryl’ Fe(IV)=O structure of these intermediates in hydroperoxidases." @default.
