- W2014970918 abstract "Abstract 1. A description is given of some experiments on homogenates of liver tissue in which the transfer of 32P from radioactive liver cell cytoplasm to non-radioactive liver cell nuclei and from radioactive nuclei to non-radioactive cytoplasm has been examined. 2. Results of such expirements show no evidence of the nucleus providing phosphorus for the synthesis of cRNA. On the contrary it appears that phosphorus compounds in the cell cytoplasma contribute to nRNA renewal. 3. Of the cytoplasmic constituents only the cell sap has the ability, by itself, to transfer 32P to the nRNA and DNA. However the particulate fractions are capable of enhancing the action of the cell sap. 4. The non-dialysable portion of radioactive cell sap itself is almost as effective as the whole radioactive cell sap in promoting 32P transfer to the nRNA but addition of the radioactive dialysate stimulates this process to a small degree. 5. The presence of inactive cell sap stimulates the transfer of 32P from radioactive acid-soluble components of cell sap to the nRNA and to a greater extent to the DNA. 6. Ammonium sulphate fractionation of radioactive dialysed cell sap showed that Fraction I (0 to 33% saturation) was most effective in transferring 32P to the DNA while Fractions 2 and 3 (34 to 66% saturation and material not precipitated by 66% saturation) were less effective as regards DNA phosphorus replacement but showed greater ability to renew nRNA phosphorus than Fraction I." @default.
