First, the change of the thermodynamic potential of the two-band model due to the existence of interband impurity scattering is derived by making use of the Green function theory. Based on this, it is found that the specific heat of a two-band superconductor containing nonmagnetic impurities is larger than that of a corresponding pure two-band superconductor at temperatures in the immediate vicinity of the transition temperature. The difference of these two specific heats is shown to be proportional to the density of impurities, the strength of the interband impurity scattering and the difference between the specific heat of a pure two-band superconductor with its d band in the superconducting state and its s band in the normal state and that of the same pure crystal with both its bands in the normal state." @default.
