- W2015169052 abstract "ABSTRACT RESERVOIRS lined with unpro-tected flexible membrane and film are subject to damage during high winds. The magnitude and loca-tion of wind forces were determined over reservoir models in a wind tunnel. Reservoir geometric characteristics studied included leeward and ap-proach slope, approach-slope height, and breadth-to-depth ratio. The nega-tive pressure area in relationship to the entire reservoir was minimum when the approach and leeward slopes and breadth-to-depth ratio were at the minimums studied, 1:4, 1:4, and 5, re-spectively. Under these conditions, the adverse pressure area was confined to the leeward slope and a small area near the top edge of the downwind slope, and the entire reservoir bottom was under positive pressure. In contrast, when the slope was steeper, flow sepa-ration zones probably were more fully developed and covered larger parts of the reservoirs (entire reservoir when the breadth-to-depth ratio was 5), which resulted in nearly constant neg-ative pressures over the interior sur-faces of these systems." @default.
