- W2015212928 abstract "The complex [Ru(4,4′-Me2bpy)2(PPh3)(H2O)](ClO4)2 has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, spectroscopic and electrochemical methods. E12 vs pH studies are consistent with one-electron, one-proton transfer; at higher pH the potentials become pH independent. The catalytic activity of the complex has been investigated at pH 6.5 in the homogeneous electrooxidation of benzylic compounds. The reactivity was found to decrease in the order 1-phenylethanol ⪢ phthalic alcohol > benzyl alcohol > 4-methylbenzyl alcohol > ethylbenzene > toluene. Carbon paste electrode (CPE) containing the complex has shown catalytic activity in oxidations of alcohols. Benzyl alcohol oxidation by CPE is first order on substrate concentration and for low concentrations is controlled by the diffusion rate of the substrate from solution." @default.
