L’overdenture su barra fresata sostenuta da impianti rappresenta un’alternativa interessante nel piano di trattamento di pazienti totalmente edentuli con atrofia mandibolare moderata o grave; infatti, è molto più economica di una protesi fissa su impianti e presenta al tempo stesso una stabilità e una ritenzione simili. Dal punto di vista chirurgico, la posizione degli impianti al fine di ottenere l’estetica ideale non è così critica come per le protesi in porcellana. Dental implants represent a revolution in the rehabilitation of totally edentulous jaws. One treatment option is the implant-supported milled bar overdenture. The indications for and the benefits of this kind of rehabilitation are described. This case report provides a step-by-step description of the rehabilitation of a totally edentulous mandible. With this tecnique is possible to create an implant-suppoorted prosthesis that will meet the functional and economic demands of a lot of totally edentulous patients. The implant-supported milled bar overdenture is an interesting treatment alternative for totally edentulous patients with moderate to severe mandibular atrophy. It is far less expensive than a fixed implant-supported prosthesis and it offers similar stability and retention. From a surgical point of view, the position of the implants is less critical for the esthetic outcome than it is with implant-supported porcelain prostheses." @default.
