- W2015806769 abstract "Polymeric viologen was synthesized from diaminopropylviologen and cyanuryl chloride. This substance, polycyanurviologen (PCV), was used to modify glassy carbon electrodes. The coating was formed by adsorption of PCV on the carbon surface freed from surface oxide groups by treatment with Ar-RF plasma, and it was roughly monomolecular. The surface composition of the electrode was measured using XPS. The electrode reactions of PCV and the rate of catalytic reduction of O2 were studied. The value of the rate constant for the reaction between the reduced form PCV and O2 is equal to 2 × 109 cm3 mol−1 s−1. The layer of adsorbed PCV accelerates the electrode reaction of the [Fe(CN)6]3−/Fe(CN)6]4− couple and changes the rate of the electrode reaction of the Fe3+/Fe2+ redox system. These effects can be attributed to the influence of the charge of the PCV cations on the structure of the electrode double-layer." @default.
