- W2016029898 abstract "Summary Due to several reports of pressor actions of isoprenaline, and our own recent observations that the alpha-2 type receptor agonists clonidine and guanabenz (which would not inhibit lipolysis provoked by noradrenaline) where but moderate antagonists of isoprenaline-provoked lipolysis, we examined the possibility that isoprenaline may possess an alpha-stimulant function. When hamster white fat cells were incubated with MIX and noradrenaline in the presence of the beta-adrenergic antagonist propranolol, the alpha-stimulant function of noradrenaline was revealed, inhibiting lipolysis and shifting the dose-reponse curve to the right. Under similar conditions when isoprenaline replaced noradrenaline, there was also a displacement of the dose-response curve to the right but no inhibition of the MIX-induced increase in lipolysis resulting from the synergism of MIX and catecholamine. These results are not compatible with the existence of an alpha- stimulatory function for isoprenaline." @default.
