- W2016090930 abstract "Abstract In this paper, first the algorithms used in automatic and direct regeneration of quadrilateral elements are described in detail. The remeshing procedures include the following main steps: (1) the generation of regular grids in the optimized circumscribing rectangle of the 2D domain to be remeshed and then the elimination of quads outside the original domain to obtain core elements; (2) the generation of extra ring of elements, named boundary elements (BEs), between the original boundary and the boundary of the core mesh; and (3) the performing of mesh smoothing to obtain a high quality new mesh. Two methods of locally controlling mesh densities are presented. Secondly, supplemental techniques to remeshing, such as the criteria of triggering the remeshing procedures and the transfer of state variables from the old mesh to the new mesh, are presented, to automatize the remeshing procedures. Finally, a few examples are given to test the versatility of the techniques, from which it is verified that the remeshing program developed here exhibits good performance." @default.
