They came to the following conclusions valid for the particular experimental conditions: 1. Ionizing X-ray radiation affects the permeability of epidermal cells of all the four examined coats of onions Allium cepa L without exception. 2. Changes in the permeability of the individual coats in the course of 40 or 42 days following irradiation are irregular and difficult to explain for the time being. 3. In spite of certain physiological differences in the single coats their basic reaction on electrolytic plasmolytic agents is the same, i.e. the onset of complete plasmolysis is always delayed as compared with the controls." @default.
