- W2016446572 abstract "Abstract The linearized inverse scattering methods based on the Born and Kirchhoff approximations are investigated with an emphasis on applicability of the transverse (T)–transverse (T) pulse-echo mode. The linearized methods for the longitudinal (L)–longitudinal (L) pulse-echo mode are first summarized for the latter use of comparison. Then the linearization process for the T–T mode is presented. In order to recognize a difference in the scattering amplitudes for the L–L and T–T modes, the backscattered waveforms are calculated for a defect model of two cavities and the effect of strong interactions is visualized for the T–T mode. The linearized inverse scattering analysis is carried out for both of the L–L and T–T modes by utilizing the whole backscattered waveforms. The performance of the geometrical reconstruction for the T–T mode inversion is discussed in comparison with the L–L mode inversion." @default.
