This method accounts for the fast absorption and retention of drug in the blood after administration. A key parameter in this process is the ratio of drug absorption rate in the conjunctival mucosa to the drug transfer rate from the naso–lacrimal duct to the nasal mucosa. This ratio depends on the polymer carrier of the formulation.
