- W2017025251 abstract "The sulphurization of WO3/γ-Al2O3 and NiO-WO3/γ-Al2O3 hydrotreating catalysts has been investigated for the first time by in situ laser Raman spectroscopy (LRS). Two main intermediates were identified after mild sulphurization: a WS3 phase and an oxysulphide-type species. WS2 was the only compound found after complete sulphurization. On NiO-WO3/ Al2O3 catalyst nickel sulphides were found at low temperatures of sulphurization and disappeared when WS2 was formed, probably forming an NiWS phase. These results were rationalized by considering that the sulphurization goes through the steps oxide → oxysulphide → WS3 → WS2. The kinetics of the process appear to be sensitive to the presence of water, which favours the formation of WS2, whereas the presence of Ni seems to slow the sulphurization. Direct evidence of the presence of SH groups on these catalysts and characterization by LRS of WS3 are also reported." @default.
