- W2017166051 abstract "The kinetics of homogeneous polymerization of acrylamide initiated by the KMnO4-glycollic acid system at 35·0±0·2° in an atmosphere of nitrogen have been studied. The polymerization rate, determined iodometrically from the change in concentration of the acrylamide double bonds, passes through a maximum as the concentration of glycollic acid is increased (the KMnO4 concentration corresponding to the maximal rate is 2·25 × 10−3 mole/l. and the glycollic acid concentration is 6·96 × × 10−2 mole/l.. the order of reaction with respect to KMnO4 is 0·57, indicating bimolecular chain termination. At low monomer concentrations the rate varies linearly with the change in monomer concentration. The total energy of activation is 18·75 kcal/mole. The molecular weight of the polymer is directly proportional to the initial monomer concentration and inversely proportional to the initiation rate." @default.
