- W2017254182 abstract "Exponentially growing HeLa cells were incubated for one minute with 3H-thymidine and their nuclei subsequently fractionated to yield a membrane fraction containing 3–6% of the nuclear DNA. The membrane associated DNA was more highly labelled than the DNA which was separated from the membrane. The differential labelling was reversed by chasing the radioactive pulse with unlabelled thymidine. Parallel experiments utilizing autoradiography to localize incorporated thymidine provide similar information. After a radioactive pulse, most of the grains can be found in close proximity to the membrane. A chase with unlabelled thymidine results in most of the grains being found more than 0.2 μm from the membrane. We have concluded that DNA replication occurs in close association with the nuclear membrane in HeLa cells." @default.
