- W2017375944 abstract "Abstract The amount of projectile material trapped as a function of dose has been measured for 40 keV Ni+ ions implanted in Cu and Ag targets at various temperatures between 76 K and 673 K. The results are compared with the sputtering model of saturation and it is found that diffusion enhanced by radiation occurs in all cases, although the expected saturation of the trapped amount with ion dose takes place at lower temperatures. Furthermore it appears that, by increasing the target temperature, the implantation behaviour is changed qualitatively in that saturation does not occur and the amount of implanted material increases linearly with dose. The contribution of thermal diffusion is shown to be insignificant at all the temperatures studied. These results are of importance in applications of ion implantation which require high concentrations of the implanted material." @default.
