- W2017397247 abstract "Ultrasonic attenuation of the longitudinal waves in HgSe along the [100], [110] and [111] directions has been measured in the frequency range of 10 MHz to 300 MHz at temperatures between 77 K and 350 K by the pulse-echo technique. The dominant losses originate from the Akhieser and dislocation damping mechanisms, and both the piezoelectric and thermoelastic coupling losses are negligible. The damping constant of (4.4±0.7)×10-5 dynsec/cm2 is obtained. The Bordoni peaks are observed between 170 K and 280 K and their activation energies are estimated to be (0.070±0.003) eV and their attempt frequencies (9±3)×108 Hz. The ultrasonic parameters of HgSe obtained in these experiments are compared with those of the semimetal HgTe." @default.
