- W2017408891 abstract "A number of gene functions, which characterize different phases of the phage development, were studied after ultraviolet irradiation of the wild-type phage, T4V+ and its ultraviolet-sensitive derivative, T4V. The “early” gene functions were equally sensitive in both strains. However, the “intermediate” function, thymidylate synthetase, and the “late” functions were much more sensitive in T4V as compared to T4V+. Ultraviolet-irradiation of the phages at different wavelengths indicated that the V gene function is related to a specific chromophore. The observation that inactivation of this chromophore is paralleled by the loss of certain gene functions is discussed in the context of the regulation of the multi-genic systems of the phage." @default.
