In (B) sind Mn2+ und Zn2+ nicht statistisch verteilt. Die Kristallchemie beider Substanzen wird diskutiert. Magnetische Messungen bis herunter zu 120 K zeigen nur für (A) einen antiferromagnetischen Effekt. Single crystals of Mn4Nb2O9 (A) were prepared by heating in a resistivity furnace or by the plasma-torch technique. Mn2Zn2Nb2O9 (B) could be prepared using a CO2-laser. X-ray diffractometer measurements show the space groups (A): D3d4 — P3̄c1 and (B): C3v3 — P3c1 with (A): a = 5.3293(2) Å, c = 14.3154(21) Å and (B): a = 5.2617(7) Å, c = 14.3422(43) Å, Z = 2. (B) has no statistical occupation of the metal positions Mn2+ and Zn2+. The crystal chemistry aspects of both compounds are discussed. Magnetic measurements down to 120 K show antiferromagnetism only in (A)." @default.
