Relativistic effects must be included if a quantitative interpretation of optical experiments is made. The L′2 → L1 gap is 1 eV smaller in the relativistic calculation than it is in a non-relativistic band structure obtained from the same potential. This reduction of the L-gap is in the present case sufficient to lead to an extra interband edge below the main edge at 3.98 eV. The optical function ε2(ω) and the energy distributions of photoemitted electrons have been calculated. Die Bandstruktur von Silber wurde auf relativistischer Grundlage (RAPW) berechnet. Es zeigt sich, daß relativistische Effekte berücksichtigt werden müssen, falls eine quantitative Interpretation von optischen Versuchen gemacht werden soll. Der L′2 → L1 Bandabstand ist um 1 eV kleiner in relativistischer Rechnung als in einer nicht-relativistischen Bandstruktur für dasselbe Potential. Diese Reduktion des L-Bandabstandes genügt im vorliegenden Fall, um eine extra Absorptionskante zu erhalten, welche unterhalb der Hauptkante (3,98 eV) liegt. Die optische Funktion ε2(ω) und die Energieverteilungen der photoemittierten Elektronen werden berechnet." @default.
