- W2017494210 abstract "The oxidation of 2-methylnaphthalene (1) to 2-methyl-1,4-naphthaquinone (2), by tetraalkylammonium dichromate and ammonium dichromate in acidic solutions of acetonitrile-water, is catalysed by RuCl3. A reaction between the dichromate reagent and RuCl3 is observed at 50°C but is too slow to be observed at 20°C although the catalysed oxidation is already evident at 20°C. Increasing the temperature enhances both the rate of oxidation of1 and selectivity for2 whereas increasing the concentration of RuCl3 increases the selectivity rather than rate of oxidation. The effect of RuCl3 is possibly through enhanced oxidation of water. The ruthenium IV compound (NH4)2RuCl6 has no effect." @default.
