- W2017609188 abstract "The binding of norethynodrel to human plasma proteins was investigated. Plasma and plasma proteins from normal men women and pregnant women were studied. It was seen that undilute plasma binds norethynodrel to the extent of 94-95% Plasma diluted to 20 times was able to bind 65-72% of norethynodrel and dilution of female plasma to 40 times showed 54% binding while that of male and pregnancy showed no binding at that high dilution. The association constant of norethynodrel was 10000000/M. Temperature studies showed that binding was not affected at 60 degrees C for 30 minutes. The optimum pH of the plasma norethynodrel binding was 7-8. 20 30 and 60 mcg of progesterone reduced norethynodrel binding from 54 to 37 35 and 32% respectively whereas similar amounts of cortisol did not reduce the binding of norethynodrel. Chromatography of the binding proteins showed that norethynodrel binding protein was eluted from cellulose column along with albumin and other plasma proteins. Disc electrophoresis showed that norethynodrel binds a specific protein and albumin. It is concluded that the norethynodrel binding plasma protein appears to be a distinct protein other than albumin corticosteroid binding globulin and sex steroid binding protein." @default.
