Synthesis and Methylation of a Neutral Manganeseacyl-Phosphorus Ylide [MeC5H4(CO)2(NO)Mn]PF6 (1) reacts with two equivalents Me3PCH2 via ylide addition at the carbonyl carbon and transylidation to give MeC5H4(CO)(NO)MnC(O)HCPMe3 (3) and [Me4P]PF6 (2). In addition, 3 is obtained from the manganese cation and Me3PCHSiMe3 or from MeC5H4(CO)(NO)MnC(O)OMe (6) and Me3PCH2, respectively. Treatment of 3 with MeX (X = I, SO3F) exclusively yields the manganeseacyl phosphonium salts [MeC5H4(CO)-(NO)MnC(O)CHMePMe3]X (7a,b). The new manganese complexes are characterized by NMR and IR spectroscopy." @default.
