- W2017701447 abstract "Flow past bluff bodies (sphere, heated spheres and a car) is simulated using a body -fitted coordinates derived from a Cartesian coordinates instead of using C or O -type grids. Starting with a uniform Cartesian grid, the resulting grid system is obtained by solving a Poisson equation for each coordinate. Following this approach the final grid is easier to obtain, e specially for bodies with complicated topologies. Numerical solutions are acquired to the governing compressible Navier-Stokes and energy equations using a high accurate multi-directional finite difference method with third-order upwinding. No turbulence model is incorporated into the model. Results of the drag coefficient for the sphere (Cd=0.43) and the car body (Cd=0.4) are obtained. The present article includes extensive visualization of the flow calculations to show the main features of the flow str uctures." @default.
