- W2018168385 abstract "Summary An enhanced level of nitrate reductase (NR) was observed in excised wheat leaves in presence of ammonium and amino acids as compared to that induced by nitrate alone. This enhanced level does not appear to be due to an increased accumulation of nitrate, increased oxidative or photophosphorylation. Moreover, addition of ammonium had no influence on the in vivo or in vitro decay of NR which suggests that the stimulatory influence is due to an increased synthesis of enzyme. It is suggested that the synthesis of NR is affected primarily by nitrate reduction or by NADH availability and that ammonium may be indirectly affecting the synthesis by stimulating these processes." @default.
