- W2018227165 abstract "1. Streptococcus faecalis 9790 utilizes d-methionine during postlogarithmic phase, but only in the presence of l-methionine. Utilization appears to be the result of a racemase action, which is independent of B6 and specific for methionine. 2. The organism utilizes sulfoxides of the stereoisomers of methionine in essentially the same way as the corresponding parent compounds. 3. N-Formyl and N-acetyl derivatives of methionine follow closely the assimilation pattern of the parent compound. 4. The methyl sulfonium ion and the sulfone derived from methionine are not utilized, but the keto acid is partly utilized provided pyridoxamine is available." @default.
