V. Abstract The results of a number of N-body simulations of the dissipationless gravitational collapses of protogalactic systems are presented. The initial systems simulated were either spheres, disks or bars. Different amounts of random kinetic energy and angular momentum were accounted for in different sequences of models. The sequences of models permit comparisons between systems with the same shape but different velocity distributions. It is found that the spherical collapses lead to systems with large core radii parts. The central parts are triaxial and the outer parts are nearly prolate. In the disk and bar collapses, a tendency was found for collapse to lead to systems with core radii of about 2 to 4 units. In the most violent collapses angular momentum transfer was so strong that it forced the rotation velocity down. In these systems the ratio of peak rotation velocity to central velocity dispersion is about 0.3. The results resemble elliptical galaxies except they are too flat. Some computer-generated images of the evolution of the models are provided.
