- W2018389112 abstract "This paper discusses the numerical simulation of buoyancy-driven bubbles in various shape regimes using level set method. The effects of both inertia and viscous forces are considered in the mathematical model. Surface tension force at the fluid interface is implemented through the CSF model of Brackbill et al. [2 Brackbill, J. U., Kothe, D. B. and Zemach, C. 1992. A Continuum Method for Modeling Surface Tension. J. Comput. Phys., vol. 100: 335–354. [Google Scholar]]. The incompressible Navier-Stokes equations were solved on a finite volume based staggered grid using an explicit projection method. Although the level set method offers an elegant way of computing multiphase flows, it is often plagued by mass conservation problems. In the present work, the level set method is augmented with a volume-reinitialization scheme, which helps preserve the individual fluid masses within gas and liquid phases. This enabled us to compute the motion of bubbles in all important shape regimes on a relatively coarse grid." @default.
