- W2018476001 abstract "There is increasing concern about the consequences for human reproduction and health of the presence in the environment of compounds that have oestrogenic activity. Although long-term changes in the incidence of a number of hormone-related diseases are occurring in the population, a causal relationship with exposure to pseudo-oestrogens, whether man-made chemicals or naturally occurring phyto-oestrogens, has not been proven. However, such a relationship is biologically plausible and should be further investigated. On the other hand, there is evidence, mainly from animal studies, in support of the beneficial health effects of specific phytooestrogens, which makes them interesting candidates for ingredients in so-called functional foods. Further support from human studies is required." @default.
