- W2018767794 abstract "Interfacial tension at the liquid/liquid interface between electrolyte solutions of nitrobenzene and water has been studied using a variation of the maximum bubble pressure method. This work provides a test of doubly-diffuse space charge theory for describing the potential profile across the interface and subsequent evaluation of the chi-potential (dipole potential) differnece. Electrocapillary curves were constructed by varying the concentration of tetraalkylammonium bromide salts (TAABr) in the aqueous phase while holding the concentration of the corresponding tetraalkylammonium tetraphenylborate salt (TAATPB) concentration constant in the nitrobenzene phase. Comparison of charges calculated through Gouy-Chapman-Verwey-Niessen theory with those experimentally determined, indicates the potential difference across the interface is concentrated in the diffuse layers in each phase. The chi potential drop across any interfacial compact layer is within experimental error (±5 mV) of zero mV." @default.
