- W2018974166 abstract "The S1 (1B3u) excited state dynamics of pyrazine was probed using absorption spectroscopy, fluorescence excitation spectroscopy, time-resolved emission and energy-resolved emission techniques. The emission quantum yield decreased with the rotational state. The absorption contour of a single rotational state was found to be broader than the excitation contour and absorption with a low emission quantum yield was observed between adjacent rotational transitions. The inverse emission quantum yield Y−1 was found to sharply maximize in the valleys between rotational transitions. This finding was in a quantitative similarity to the measured short to long component amplitude ratio in the time-resolved emission (A+/A−). We have unambiguously demonstrated that near resonance Raman light scattering does not contribute to the observed short time emission component. This short component was shown to emerge from an absorption with low emission quantum yield, which we call “grass”. The measured absolute emission quantum yields at 2 GHz-spectral resolution, their rotational dependence and correlation with the time-resolved emission data, were interpreted and analyzed in terms of a model, named “vibrational crossing”. This model is based on a statistical limit intratriplet vibrational energy redistribution (IVR), induced by an intrastate Coriolis coupling. Intratriplet IVR increases the dilution of the singlet character of the mixed singlet-triplet spin-orbit coupled states, resulting in interstate intersystem crossing." @default.
