- W2019048596 abstract "Abstract Comparisons of the composition of ureteral and bladder urine in the tortoise Testudo graeca suggest that the bladder is a major site of ionoregulation. Prolactin produces a reduction in urine volume, and a rise in potassium and magnesium urine concentrations in intact animals. Hypophysectomy caused a depression in plasma sodium levels which was not associated with a change in plasma water content. This change was not corrected by either prolactin or corticosterone but was exacerbated by a combination of two hormones. This effect may be due to an increase in water uptake. In hydrated animals the prolactin effect was reversed and an increase in urine volume was observed." @default.
