- W2019414492 abstract "Observation of the photochemical decomposition of Fe(CO)5 absorbed on a Ag(110) single-crystal surface in ultra-high vacuum is reported. This shows that the photochemical decomposition of this molecule is so fast that it is not quenched by direct contact with a metal surface. Great care was taken to use low laser intensity to avoid thermal or multiphoton effects. Also, the Ag surface was carefully prepared to avoid stimulated excitation due to roughness. It is estimated that the Fe(CO)5 dissociation rate is greater than 3 ×1012 s−1 upon excitation at 337 nm." @default.
