- W2019418154 abstract "Abstract The literature on microphotometry is briefly discussed with special regard to the error involved in the microphotometrical step of X-ray contact microscopy. The error is analysed experimentally. As model objects, thin nitrocellulose films were used. The thickness of these films was determined by X-ray contact microscopy and the results compared with those obtained by interference microscopy and by a mechanical-optical method. The type of microphotometer employed consists of an ordinary microscopic system. The results show that: 1. 1. Light from the illuminated surroundings of the measuring area reaches the aperture of the phototube. This introduces an error in the transmission measurements. 2. 2. The error is serious when measuring specimens giving rise to steep density gradients in the radiogram. 3. 3. The error may be reduced by preventing light from the surroundings of the measuring area reaching the phototube." @default.
