- W2019435359 abstract "Frog heart under normal conditions (4–12°C) is resistant to the necrogenic effect of isoproterenol but can be sensitized by exposing hibernating animals (R. pipiens or R. temporaria) to 25°C for 3 days, during which period blood pH drops about 0.018 pH units/deg. C. The main lesion is single or multiple circumscript systolic bulging of the ventricular wall caused by destruction of trabeculae forming the wall of lacunae inside the spongy myocardium (transmural aneurysms). Smaller aneurysms are located mainly in the peripheral (subendocardial) myocardium and ultrafiltration of fluid from cavities containing blood takes place through the very thin wall into the subepicardial spaces (blisters). Focal areas of hypodynamic lacunae were found at an early stage, apparently connected with the formation of aneurysms. Cells in the affected areas were oedematous with separated and fragmented fibrils and with contraction bands. Coagulation necrosis and mesenchymal reaction was absent at the stage examined." @default.
