Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an opportunistic pathogen that can cause acute or chronic pneumonia. Treatment of these infections consists first in antibiotherapy carried out from the bacterial colony quickly identified. Antibiotics choice is determined by the results of antibiotic susceptibility testing. Frequent recurrences due to host favouring factors induce multidrug-resistant strains emergence. Research in animal models and clinical trials allowed better understanding of physiopathology and new therapeutic targets identification." @default.
