It does not use evaporative cooling until an ambient temperature of 34°C is reached. 2. When the budgerygah was deprived of dringking water, its evaporative water loss was reduced at temperatures above 34°C. 3. Plama chloride concentrations of 165 mmoles/1 were tolerated when the budgerygah drank a 0·4 M NaCl solution. 4. A maximum urine chloride concentration of 445 mmoles/1 was observed with a maximum uring/plasma (U/P) ratio of 2·7. 5. All of the above resonses can be though of as physiological adjustments to the dehydrating conditions in which the budgerygah presumably evolved." @default.
