- W2019977053 abstract "Fusarium, a filamentous fungus, produces two closely related glutamic acid dehyrogenases, one specific for TPN and another for DPN. Both of these enzymes have been purified and the Michaelis constants reported for various substrates. The effect of various inhibitors on the two enzymes has been observed and, from their sensitivity to p-chloromercuribenzoate, it is suggested that free sulfydryl groups are necessary for activity. The pH optima of the DPN- and TPN-dependent enzymes are 7.2 and 0.7. respectively. In the synthetic medium containing ammonium nitrate, the specific activity of the TPN-dependent enzyme is highest during 24–48 hr. of growth after which the DPN-dependent enzyme becomes predominant (48–72 hr.). Activity of both enzymes drops sharply toward the end of the exponential phase of growth. Some of the probable reasons for the presence of two enzymes catalyzing the same reaction are discussed." @default.
