It is shown that the energy dependence of $A(E)$ does not account for the positive sign of the diffusive part of the thermoelectric power of the noble metals at room temperature. Rather, this is determined by the strong decrease of the electron mean free path with energy. The values of the logarithmic energy derivatives of the electron mean free path at 300 K, $frac{dmathrm{ln}l(E)}{dmathrm{ln}E}$ at the Fermi level, are -2.07, -1.61, and -2.14 for Cu, Ag, and Au, respectively." @default.
