- W2020199269 abstract "Abstract In order to investigate the effect of cataclastic deformation on ESR signals in quartz, we sheared Ottawa sand in an annular shearing apparatus, at controlled normal stress and measured ESR intensities as a function of grain size and extent of shearing. Both intensity and AD of the E′ and Al signals were reduced by shearing, decreasing with increasing grain size. Radiation sensitivity of the E′ signal was increased by shearing. Equivalent dose (ED) recorded by E′ decreased with decreasing grain size, but did not reach a plateau. Decrease in apparent AD during shearing may be partly a result of increase in radiation sensitivity." @default.
