- W2020199476 abstract "Abstract Competition binding experiments on tissues containing two or more receptor subtypes represent a suitable method of estimating the different subtype populations as well as the affinity of the competing ligand for each subtype. The ideal condition is when the binding of a non-selective radioligand is inhibited by increasing concentrations of an unlabeled, subtype-selective competing ligand. However, the development of an exclusively non-selective radioligand appears highly unlikely and evidence for subtype selectivity below a factor of five- to sevenfold remains obscure. When a radioligand with low subtype selectivity is falsely presumed to be non-selective, analysis of competition binding curves causes considerable distortion of the estimated binding parameters, i.e. of the inhibitory constants of the competitor and of the estimated proportion of binding sites . Wolfgang Schutz and colleagues argue that these facts must be taken into consideration when interpreting data of recent studies on useful β-adrenergic ligands which have so far been believed to be non-selective ." @default.
