- W2020252013 abstract "A method based on the glucose oxidase reaction has been developed for measuring the amount of oxygen dissolved in aqueous or nonaqueous solvents. Samples containing 0.2 to 0.7 μmoles of oxygen react with an excess of glucose in the presence of glucose oxidase and the extent of reaction is determined by measuring the amount of glucose consumed. The method is calibrated by using, as standard, water which has been equilibrated with air at 20°. The amount of glucose consumed is a linear function of the amount of oxygen present. The molar ratio of glucose to oxygen consumed varied between 1.5 and 1.8. The limiting value for this ratio is 2.0 when catalase (a contaminant of commercial glucose oxidase) is present. Results of the analysis of suspensions of a dispersed fluorochemical showed a linear relationship between the amount of fluorochemical added and glucose consumed. The oxygen content of the dispersed fluorochemical equilibrated with oxygen was very close to 5 times that of the same material when equilibrated with air." @default.
